Somali authorities have seized seven million US dollars from bank accounts they said belonged to Al Shabaab, government media reported today.
They also shut down hundreds of bank accounts linked to the group, according to the Somali National News Agency.
The government has also deregistered hundreds of phone numbers.
The government said Al Shabaab used the numbers “to threaten, collect and save extortion money”.
