Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim has told UK newspaper Financial Times that he is worried about rising “China-phobia” in the West.
“Why must I be tied to one interest? I don’t buy into this strong prejudice against China, this China-phobia,” Ibrahim said in an interview published by the Financial Times on Feb. 25.
The Malaysian prime minister said his country was concerned about the superpower rivalry has created a predicament for governments in south-east Asia, which is strategically important to the US and China.
