Explosion reportedly kills three people in Somalia’s Puntland

At least three people were killed and six others were wounded on Tuesday, January 23, in an explosion in the port town of Bosaso in Somalia’s Puntland state, according to the local media.

The blast reportedly took place at a tea shop.

The armed group Al Shabaab said it was behind the deadly explosion, saying it targeted Puntland security forces and killed five soldiers.

There was no immediate independence confirmation of the attack.

Bosaso is the capital of Bari region, which is part of Puntland.

The ISIS group is reported to have a small branch in the region.
