At least 20 people have been killed in a bus crash in the southern Ethiopian district of Teltale in Oromia region, near the Kenyan border, the country’s Addis Standard news outlet has reported.
About 30 others have been reported to have sustained injuries, including 18 critical cases.
The bus was travelling from the small town of Milami to a village market in Borana zone when it came off the road on Tuesday, zonal communication officials said.
The injured were taken to the nearby Wolayita Sodo and Teltale hospitals for treatment.
Such accidents are common in Ethiopia due to human error, bad weather and other factors.
In 2018, at least 38 people, mostly students, were killed when a bus plunged into a ravine in the mountainous Amhara region.
