The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has named its first-ever youth envoy.
Sam Ogwal of Uganda was appointed to the post during the 2023 IGAD Governance Forum held in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa, the regional bloc’s executive secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu said today.
Ogwal’s role will involve advocating for the implementation of IGAD’s Regional Youth Policy.
He will also act as a link between East African youth and policy-makers, influencers, peace-makers and other stakeholders.
Ogwal is a Ugandan youth activist and secretary of finance at the National Youth Council, a governmental organization.
