Somali forces on Monday foiled a suicide bomb attack on an army base in Mogadishu, as per state media.
The attempted attack was thwarted at a around 8:21 local time, state television said.
“At around 8:21 a.m local time, the National Armed Forces successfully neutralized a lone suicide bomber who tried to enter an army base in Mogadishu,” Somali National Television said on X, a social media site known formerly as Twitter.
“No other individuals were harmed during the incident,” it said.
The ministry of defence confirmed the incident, saying the national army “successfully neutralized a potential threat outside Jale Siad College”.
“A would-be attacker, armed with explosives, was stopped before reaching the entrance. Our army stands guard, day and night, safeguarding our nation against such heinous plots,” it said.
